The outstanding beauty of this piece of furniture is due to it's solid hardwood construction - absolutely no plywood is used. The Personal Altar that is featured in this listing is constructed out of solid Cherry hardwood - harvested locally in Central Maine. The completed bench is finish-coated with environmentally-friendly, non-toxic beeswax finish. Handmade in the USA - my small wood shop is located at our home in the wonderful state of Maine. Eastern Cherry is a very pleasant hardwood lumber species that is appreciated for it's subtle orange, pinkish-tan shades and clear grain patterns....it has a very beautiful, warm tone.
