This 16x18 inch woven cotton basket stands taller instead of spreading wider, so it fits a bedroom corner, the spot beside the sofa or the closet doorway while swallowing spare bedding, towels, yarn stashes and the clutter that migrates around the house. The dropon cover keeps it all out of sight and dust free, and the body is sturdy enough to keep curious dogs and cats out of whatever you store inside. Need it wider and lower instead? The same family comes in a 20x15 inch size. The basket is doublewoven from about 5 lbs of dense natural cotton rope, so it stands up on its own with no plastic frame inside, soft and smooth to the touch with nothing prickly. The handles are woven into the body itself nothing bolted on to loosen and the handwoven Light Grey & Grey finish settles into boho, modernfarmhouse and minimalist rooms alike. A note on arrival: like all woven rope baskets, it ships folded and compressed, and may show creases from packaging. Unfolding it is easy, and there is more than one way to do it: stuff it with pillows or blankets for a day or two, pass a hand steamer over the creases while gently stretching, or simply push the folds out and shape the sides by hand. Once opened up, it holds its round shape for good. Every colourway is photographed as it ships. Care is simple: spot clean with a damp cloth.
